[ARCHIVED] State's Dept. of Commerce recommends state grant assistance for library construction project

We have a promising development that could be very big for Liberty Lake’s upcoming new library!  The Washington State Dept. of Commerce has recommended providing $937,193 in funding through the state’s Library Capital Improvement Program to assist in the construction of the city’s new library.

While this recommendation does not guarantee the funding, it is a significant first step toward potentially obtaining some state assistance for Liberty Lake’s new facility.  This funding recommendation will now move on to a review by the Washington State Office of Financial Management to put it under consideration for including in the governor’s proposed capital budget for 2025-2027.  That budget proposal is expected to be released around December.

The potential grant would specifically be earmarked for construction-related costs in converting the building at 23129 E. Mission Ave. into the city’s new library. If the funding is approved by the Legislature and signed into law next year, appropriations from this program would likely become available for the library project next summer.
