The City Council is the legislative and policy making body for the City of Liberty Lake. It is the Council's responsibility to make and pass laws within the city. The City of Liberty Lake has a strong mayor-council form of government. The Mayor chairs all meetings of the City Council. As the legislative body, the City Council establishes local laws and policies, and has general oversight and control over the City's finances, primarily through the budget process. Regular Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Other meetings could include committee and special council meetings.
State law requires that a council member be a resident of Liberty Lake for at least one year and a registered voter at the time of application.
The deadline to submit applications is 4:00 p.m., Monday, January 3rd, 2022. City Council will determine a schedule for interviews following their January 4th, 2022 Meeting. Based on the number of applicants, interviews may be held during a regularly scheduled City Council meeting, or a Special Meeting.
