Directional on-ramp to westbound I-90 in Liberty Lake set to close for 13 days

LIBERTY LAKE – Drivers who use the directional on-ramp to westbound Interstate 90 at the Harvard Road, Liberty Lake interchange, will need to find alternate routes during an upcoming 13-day closure.

The directional on-ramp closure to westbound I-90 will begin at 7 p.m., Sunday, August 8, and continue through 4 a.m., Friday, August 20. This will allow contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation to finish paving the extension of the ramp and realign it with I-90. During the closure, the northbound Harvard Road loop on-ramp to westbound I-90 will remain open.

Crews initially had planned to close Harvard Road over I-90 beginning Monday, August 9, however, due to ongoing extreme temperatures around the region and the inability to reduce concrete temperatures, the contractor switched the Harvard Road closure and accelerated the directional on-ramp closure. The Harvard Road closure over I-90 is now tentatively scheduled to begin on Friday, August 20.

During the directional on-ramp closure, drivers traveling southbound on Harvard Road will detour west on East Mission Avenue to North Barker Road to access westbound I-90.

The work is part of the Harvard Road interchange improvements project to widen the Harvard Road bridge over I-90 and extend the westbound I-90 on-ramp.

Before heading out the door, travelers can find highway conditions on the WSDOT Travel Alerts page, mobile app, and on the regional Twitter account.
