Ready to get out of the house and back to nature? Explore Washington’s state parks with the Check Out Washington backpack, which includes binoculars, field guides, and a special Discover Pass for parking at Washington State Parks.
You can place a hold on the Check Out Washington backpack in our catalog, or give us a call to reserve it. We have 1 backpack available and the checkout period is 7 days. Library users who check out the backpacks will be asked to provide information for a survey to help evaluate the program and are asked to return the backpack during the library’s holds pickup hours.
Normally, a Discover Pass is associated to an individual’s vehicle and license plate number. The specially designed Discover Pass for the Check Out Washington program works differently. No license plate numbers are necessary for this pass. This means that library customers can use any vehicle, including rental vehicles, to access state parks and trailheads.
Check Out Washington is a cooperative project of the Washington State Library, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Washington State Parks Foundation.
