[ARCHIVED] What is the Future of Winter Glow?: Results of live polling from June 2 town hall

Our June 2 community town hall at the Trailhead Golf Course Rotary Room gave area residents the chance to hear financial and logistical considerations regarding the future of the annual Winter Glow Spectacular attraction that has been at Orchard Park.  Those who came were also able to share perspectives, ideas, and questions related to event's continuation and about the proposal for the City of Liberty Lake to assume its management operations.

Additionally, attendees at the town hall were able to respond via cell phones to live polling questions about Winter Glow's continuation.  Below are their responses to those questions.  The responses came from about 46 people (with about 3/4 of those saying they are city residents, and about 1/4 saying they live outside the city limits).

Q:  How important is it to you that the Winter Glow Spectacular continues in Liberty Lake?
- Extremely important = 43.48%
- Important = 32.61%
- Somewhat important = 21.74%
- Less important = 0%
- Not important = 2.17%

Q:  Would you support the City of Liberty Lake taking over the management of the Winter Glow Spectacular?
- Yes = 84.44%
- No = 15.56%

Q:  If the City takes over the Winter Glow Spectacular production, where would you prefer that it takes place?
- Orchard Park (current location) = 82.98%
- Another park or city facility = 2.13%
- Distributed throughout the city = 14.89%
- Prefer another location not listed here = 0%

Q:  If the City takes over the Winter Glow Spectacular production, which of the following would you most prefer to see added?
- Live entertainment or performances = 15.56%
- Food and beverage vendors = 40%
- Arts and crafts = 2.22%
- Parade = 6.67%
- Ice rink = 13.33%
- Prefer another option not listed here = 22.22%

- Increasing taxes = 6.82%
- Decreasing or eliminating current services = 9.09%
