[ARCHIVED] LLPD receives armor carrier vests from Dickey Foundation

Mayor, representatives of Dickey's restaurants, and Liberty Lake Police

On Dec. 3, representatives from the Dickey Foundation formally presented its grant to the Liberty Lake Police Department that earlier this year funded the purchase of 23 throw-on armor carrier vests.  The $3,520 grant for the carrier vests was funded through the Texas-based chain of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants.  This equipment is part of a set of protective equipment for the LLPD that can protect officers from serious injury during critical incidents such as those involving active shooters.  The items funded through the Dickey Foundation are being used in conjunction with protective ballistic armored plates that were similarly granted earlier this year to the LLPD from the Spirit of Blue Foundation, based in Oregon.

During her visit at the LLPD station on Dec. 3, Betsy Orton, executive director of the DIckey Foundation, said:  "Our mission is all about helping first responders.  We're happy that Liberty Lake applied and that we're able to provide this grant."
