[ARCHIVED] Centennial Trail and access points closed for summer asphalt project

Washington State Parks logo

From mid-April through early September, the first 14 miles of the Spokane River Centennial Trail is being closed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission for an asphalt resurfacing project.  This is the first upgrade to the trail since it was built more than 30 years ago.

Trail access points affected through mile 14 during this closure are State Line, Harvard, Barker, Old Mission, Mirabeau, Island, and Donkey Islands at Maringo.

The construction project will seal pavement cracks, repair damaged sections of the trail surface, and adjust catch basin and manhole lids.  The trail will also be gaining a new and smooth 1.5-inch asphalt overly.  Additionally, maintenance work will be performed on trail kiosks.  The 14-mile portion is expected to be opened by Labor Day.
