Helping the Library with Halloween Party
On Thursday Oct. 30th the Liberty Lake Youth Commission helped the Liberty Lake Municipal Library with their annual Halloween party. There were games and crafts set up in both sides of the Library and the youth commission members manned tables with crafts and games. All of the crafts and games were geared towards younger kids. The kids dressed in costumes and loved the fact that teens helped them. It was a great success as about 100 parents and kids attended.

ALL FOOL'S HUNT

On Saturday March 29th over 150 kids and their parents braved blizzard like conditions to hunt for eggs. Among the eggs there were coupons, gift certificates, candy and an iPod Nano Video. Before the event kids kept warm in the reception room at the Trailhead Golf Course or they played Capture the Flag in the Driving Range area. At about 7pm kids were lined up by age, 5-7th graders in the front and 8-12th graders in the back. The younger group was given about a 10 second head start. It was over in minutes, but the snow kept coming. It made looking for eggs really fun. Brittany French was the lucky winner of the iPOD Nano Video. After the hunt kids sorted through their eggs and played games in the reception area. Kiwanis sold snacks, cotton candy and beverages in the reception room. A HUGE thank you to all of the people who helped make this year's ALL FOOL's HUNT a success, we could not have done it without you!
Liberty Lake Youth Commission Wins a Chase Youth Award for Superior Leadership
The Liberty Lake Youth Commission was awarded a Chase Youth Award in March for their outstanding commitment to the community of Liberty Lake and surrounding community. The Liberty Lake Youth Commission was founded over a year ago by local teens to enhance community awareness and communication with young persons, protect and advocate the best interests of youth within the community, and promote youth interests in culture and diversity. Youth Commission members have worked determinedly within the last year to provide fun and safe activities for kids and teens in the community such as, creating the annual All Fool's Easter Egg Hunt and hosting Battle of the Bands. The Youth Commission has also held several community service activities including, collecting food donations for 2nd Harvest Inland Northwest Food Bank and assisting Habitat for Humanity-Spokane by providing volunteer time to build a home for a local family in need.
