Privacy Statement for Online Transactions

The City of Liberty Lake is committed to respecting the privacy rights of our customers and all visitors to our web site.  We take this matter very seriously, and have instituted this Privacy Statement in order to explain its privacy practices on this web site.

The City of Liberty Lake is the sole owner of the information collected on libertylakewa.gov.  The City of Liberty Lake collects personally identifiable information from our users at several different points on libertylakewa.gov, as described below.

Orders

If you purchase a product or service from us, we request certain personally identifiable information from you on our order form.  You must provide contact information (such as name, email, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date).

The City of Liberty Lake uses this information for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you.  We will use your email address to send your order confirmations and other communication directly pertaining to an order you have placed.  We will not use this information to send you information about products and services offered by us or others in which we believe you may be interested, unless you request to be added to our upcoming events email list.

Based upon the personally identifiable information you provide us, we will send you a welcoming email to verify your username and password.  We will also communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request, and to manage your account.  We will communicate with you by email or telephone, in accordance with your stated preferences.

Payment Processing

We use a credit card processing company to bill you for goods and services.  This company is not authorized to retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any other purposes.

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on libertylakewa.gov.

Cookies

Security

The security of your information is very important to us.  We use the 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your online order information. SSL technology encrypts your order information to protect it from being decoded by anyone other than libertylakewa.gov.

Once you enter the checkout page your computer will begin communicating with our server in secure mode.  You can tell that you are in secure mode by the following:

• The "http" in the web address will be replaced by "https"
• Depending on the browser, you will see either a padlock (Microsoft Internet Explorer, AOL, Netscape Communicator) or a solid key (Netscape Navigator) in the lower section for the browser window.
