The City of Liberty Lake has been working hard to find new ways for everyone to save energy.
Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant
In December, 2009, the City of Liberty Lake received an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) from the United States Department of Energy and the Washington State Department of Commerce.
The City of Liberty Lake is thankful to be a recipient of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. This grant was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Washington State Department of Commerce and Energy Policy Division.
You can check out all of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants at the Recovery Act website. You can also visit the Washington State Department of Commerce and Energy Policy Division's website to check out what they are doing to help green Washington.
These grant funds were used to create and implement an energy conservation plan for the City of Liberty Lake along with the installation of a 14 kWh grid tie, battery-backed solar system at the City's Police Department which will power a new Emergency Management Center. This will not only help lower energy costs but will keep the police department running for up to three days while in a power outage.
